Faith is almost home!!!

My amazing sister comes home from China tomorrow!  I am soooooo excited!  I have missed her a lot this summer!  Alas, I will be leaving for Florida just after she gets back, but I guess that gives her time with her hubby, which is good.

I am having an awesome summer so far.  I have been hiking, watching movies, reading books, hanging out with friends and basically having a blast.  I would love for life to be like this more often, though I think that I would actually get bored at some point.  I am always glad to get back to school (yes, I know that means I am slightly crazy).

I do still miss my kidlin's as well.  But, I will get even more of them in the fall.  Yay for teaching.

I have also been working on my Dad's newest book.  It is great!  I want a copy!!

Well, I am off to Bible study.  Happy Thursday everyone!

Sunny California

So much has happened since I last wrote.  I played my first game of golf ever.  I found that I rank among the top ten worst golfers ever. I doubt that the spectacular performance will ever be repeated.

I have also achieved the illustrious position of not being required to ever go back to school.  I am insane enough that it will only be a few months until I return to the world of academia.  I ended up not walking due to family stuff and my own forgetfulness of not filling out paperwork that I was supposed to turn in.

I am now down in California visiting family.  It has been a lot of fun being here.  I am enjoying the sun!  Yay!  I am headed home tomorrow though.

I am so excited that it is summer!  Nothing to do except have fun and play!!

I am missing Faith a lot.  She is in China right now and is having fun, but she is missed by us all!!

Just keep driving, just keep driving, just keep driving driving driving

I have now completed the nearly 400 mile jaunt home to the Willamette Valley.  I am very happy to be at home sitting on my "new" couch.  I am about ready to fall asleep though.

To celebrate my victorious return from the dry region of California, I did my homework.  Wow, what a thrill.  I need to remember to take it easy on the celebration next time.

Good news is: I graduate in less than three weeks.
Bad news is: I have less than three weeks to finish all my classwork.

Good news is: Summer is in three weeks
Bad news is: I have to teach for three week still (though all the plans are done and I really like what we are doing, and I like the kids-scratch the bad news on this one)

I got home and discovered that Faith finished reading the series that everyone is raving about.  I finally had someone to talk to about the books!!  It was great.  I love Jacob.  Jacob good.  Edward bad.  Shawna - read the books so we can talk!  I am still in shock that you have not read them!  We have to go see the movie when it comes out in December and you come up....  I'm planning it out already.

So, in other news, I apparently brought the Oregon weather with me when I went down to visit family in California this weekend.  It was not sunny with a high of 82.  There were rain showers and overcast skies.  Though I loved it.  I really do love Oregon, weather and all.  Wanna dance in the rain?  It was great to visit family.  I had an awesome time!  It is good to be home though.

Yay.  I think I am going to go "veg-out" now.

Ode to Friday

I do think that there is something special about Fridays.  Yesterday was a great day!  The sun was shining.  I got to have breakfast with my parents, sisters, Galen, and Jeannie.  It was a lot of fun.  School went well.  Life is good.

Last night Rob and I went to see Prince Caspian.  It was phenomenal!  MUCH better than the first one.  I hope the series just keeps getting better...  It was a lot of fun, we went to Applebee's then over to the "new" theater on Lancaster.  It was my first time actually going to that theater.  Sigh, yes I know that is pathetic.  I just have not had the time to go watch movies with grad school and everything.  The movie was great though, as I had said.  I laughed a lot and the graphics were pretty good.  Though whoever spliced the movie needed to redo it in a few places.

I am looking forward to this weekend.  Lunch with friends today, and, wait - nothing else on my schedule?!?!  What?!?!  I think that I will finally get some cleaning done and that last little portion of my portfolio.

I leave you with this thought: Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're up to.

and... I thought this was funny:

Completion! Success! Done! Just kidding.....

Yesterday I was under the happy impression that I had completed my practicum portfolio. I printed it out, packed up to leave to turn it in, and then for some reason decided to look at the guidelines one last time. I had totally skipped a section. Alas, I have still yet to finish my portfolio. I am so close that I can taste it....

On another note, I had my interview today for the straight Language Arts position at my school. I am more nervous now than when I was interviewing. They are still interviewing next week, and then they may have call backs for second interviews. Please be praying.

I has a happy. I played a mean round of put-put golf today. I have a friend who is an avid golfer, and she and I did some miniature golfing after dinner. I think I had an unfair advantage in that I have never played real golf and have no idea what I am doing. She will have her turn in a couple weeks when we actually have our golf tournament for the school. Yes, you did read correctly. I am playing in a golf tournament. No, I have not been taking lessons behind your back. I still have never played a real game of golf in my life. However, for some strange reason three ladies at my school are allowing me to be part of their team for the tournament. I think it is for comedic relief, but we will see. I think it will be fun times though.

Stircrazy

Yes, I am going stir-crazy now. I have been feeling icky and doing homework of all things. I am now thirty five pages into my portfolio and am still not done. I think that today has been hindered the most by having a giant dog's head trying to take the place of my laptop on my lap. She is truly a gentle giant, but she is definitely jealous of the other dog that I am watching while her "parents" are in California.

I have now made it through: Alvin and the Chipmonks, I Am Legend, and American Gangsters. Alvin and the Chipmonks deserves the best recognition of all of them. I think I may even want the soundtrack ;) I am excited to see the next Narnia movie this Friday! 7:30pm "the curtain will drop" yipee!

Education is the progressive discovery of your own ignorance.

Saturday; a day of freedom, rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation.  Unless one has a massive amount of homework, like a portfolio that should already be done.  This month is the month of never-ending stress, homework, grading, and practices.  I am looking forward to June simply to have some time to breathe.  I know that life will be busy again with all kinds of things, but I am looking forward to the lack of homework for a while.

Graduation is so near, yet so far away.  Alas wanting to make time go faster.  Wishing will never get the work done, so hi ho hi ho, it's off to work I go....  With a computer in hand, I type all day.

Me

Cold. Snowing? No, just cold.

Chilly evening to you all,

I think that my fingers are going to fall off shortly.  I spent the afternoon at a Middle School track meet keeping times.  Good news: all races are done and I am now currently at home thawing out.  Bad news: I am quite sure that I have frostbite.  The only question is how many fingers I am going to lose.  Probably only the one I hit the timer button with.  I will let you know later what the final count of fingers is.

This might put a damper on my counting skills for a while.  I think I will learn to do some creative math......  Though my students may be able to understand better.  Hmmmmmm......

I am off to a warm bed.  Hasta luego.
